Chilliwack Fair Board urged to continue rodeo

Please allow our rodeo to continue. I’ve personally been attending the Chilliwack Rodeo since the early 1980’s and have not witnessed any serious injuries or death. The stock is well cared for, fed, watered, respected and in many instances shown affection. The Vancouver Humane Society has a large vegan based membership that targets all rodeo activity all over the world. Only one rodeo has altered their activity due to the influence of the V.H.S. Even though that rodeo altered their acts, the V.
Ashwell an accident waiting to happen

Ashwell an accident waiting to happen

As a resident of Ashwell Road, there are many issues that need to be looked at and addressed by the City, police department and the city safety department. I have come to City Hall and phoned the police department to talk about this problem, but we had no response. LETTER: Where is Hope’s MLA?

I find it very disconcerting that our recently elected MLA is still playing the same old tune of disingenuous partisan politics. Move pipeline off Chilliwack’s aquifer

In early June, the City of Chilliwack received an extraordinary invitation. Kinder Morgan president, Ian Anderson, wants to meet to discuss the Trans Mountain pipeline route. The proposed Chilliwack route runs through dense residential areas, two schools, nature reserves, and last but not least, our aquifer, the main source of drinking water for our city.

Dog squad brings lesson to Chilliwack students

I have just witnessed the most timely drug-safety school presentation.

Canada Day dilemma

I’m having a bit of a dilemma wondering just how, or even if, I may want to recognize Canada Day this year. You see, I recently participated in a piece of devised theatre, as offered via the University of the Fraser Valley’s theatre department, that dealt with stories of truth and reconciliation. Through that process, I gained more knowledge about some of the truths regarding Canada’s aboriginal residential schools and the legacy of that injustice.
