Chilliwack trustee says it is ‘irresponsible’ to approve such resources

Taxes go up, but efforts should be made to keep costs down, reader says.

Over their 16-year term, the BC Liberal government ran BC Hydro into the ground. The massive political interference has led to a financial and environmental devastation. With the province’s credit rating at risk, it is time for serious reforms. Frankly, the provincial government must get out of the electricity business.

Re: MLA Laurie Throness weighs in on SOGI

Finally, an informed, rational, measured response on SOGI from MLA Laurie Throness . Thank you Laurie. As a retired teacher, I am aware that our public schools are often used as a platform to educate students on social issues.

I am writing in response to the recent letter written by MLA Laurie Throness in which he calls transgender identity into question and comes out in opposition to SOGI 123. He believes that he speaks for the majority of his constituents, but as one of those constituents, I can tell you that he absolutely does not speak for me.

Since the inception of “contracting out’” (privatization) of B.C. parks, and B.C. Forest Service Recreation Areas, people, B.C. residents and tourists alike have little to no access to them.

Re: False equivalences in our public discourse

In the aftermath of a rather punishing debate about SOGI, please allow me to offer a few comments that, I think, reflect the views of a majority of my constituents.

Last [Tuesday] I made the trip from Vancouver to Chilliwack to attend the rally in support of LGBTQ+ Youth and the public meeting of the Chilliwack School Board regarding SOGI 123. It was a night of mixed emotions for me. I was born in Chilliwack and am a teacher employed by SD33. I was returning to my home.
