Two Chilliwack basketball teams are ranked among B.C.’s best as the 2021-22 high school hoops season tips off.
The Unity Christian Flames are a perennial powerhouse at the single-A level, and they are listed at No. 2 province-wide. Only their arch rivals from Langley, the Credo Christian Kodiaks, are above them.
The single-A top 10 is rounded out by the Kelowna Christian Knights, Fernie Falcons, Pacific Christian (Victoria) Pacers, Khalsa Lions (Surrey), Grand Forks Wolves, Vernon Christian Royals, Maple Ridge Christian Hornets and Charles Bloom (Lumby) Timberwolves.
While single-A encompasses some of the smallest schools in B.C., quad-A is for the biggest.
G.W. Graham’s senior girls are just outside the top-10 as the season begins, earning honourable mention status.
The quad-A top 10 includes the Terry Fox Ravens (Port Coquitlam), Okanagan Mission Huskies (Kelowna), Walnut Grove Gators (Langley), Riverside Rapids (Port Coquitlam), Kelowna Owls, Abbotsford Panthers, Fleetwood Park Dragons (Surrey), Claremont Spartans (Victoria), Seaquam Seahawks (North Delta) and Sir Winston Churchill Bulldogs (Vancouver).
