Continued strong play with her club team has earned Chilliwack’s Aynsley D’Ottavio a Player of the Month award from the BC Elite Hockey League.

The 16-year-old blueliner with the Fraser Valley Rush collected 15 points in October, lighting the lamp twice and adding 13 assists.

According to her award writeup, D’Ottavio “is tremendously committed to team and self improvement through hard work and effort. Every session she brings exceptional energy to the rink and a joy for the game.”

D’Ottavio’s Rush are unbeaten at 8-0 through eight games, with 38 goals for and just 11 against.

The Rosedale product has recently returned from representing Team BC at the U18 Western Regional Hockey Championships in Manitoba. D’Ottavio had one goal in five games at the tournament and helped her crew win gold.

After going 2-1 in round-robin play against Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, Team BC beat Manitoba 2-0 in a semi-final and beat Alberta 3-2 in the gold-medal match.
