Chilliwack’s Aynsley D’Ottavio scores goal at Western Regional U18 hockey tournament

The defenceman lit the lamp for Team BC in a 4-3 overtime win over Team Saskatchewan

Chilliwack’s Aynsley D’Ottavio had one of Team BC’s goals in a 4-3 overtime win over Saskatchewan Wednesday (Nov. 3) at the 2021 Western Regional U18 Women’s U18 Championship.

The four-team ice hockey tournament is being played in Manitoba, and D’Ottavio’s team is off to a 2-0 start.

The teenager’s stellar defense helped Team BC to a 4-1 win over the host Manitobans in Tuesday’s opener, as her crew out-shot their foes 42-21.

D’Ottavio got Team BC’s scoring started in the game against Saskatchewan, scoring an even-strength goal at 13:52 of the first period. It was another dominant performance for her team, out-shooting their opponents 37-21 at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie, MB.

Team BC will finish round-robin play with a game against Alberta on Thursday, Nov. 4, with an 11:30 a.m. start PST.

Alberta bombed Saskatchewan by a 7-1 count in their Tuesday opener.
