Chilliwack secondary school's senior girls basketball team hosted their New Year's Classic exhibition shootout last weekend in the school gymnasium.
A field of seven teams played 11 games on Friday and Saturday, getting some valuable game experience.
The Storm girls went 2-1, starting with a 56-39 win over Nanaimo's Dover Bay. Nicole Bartel led CSS with 14 points, and every player notched at least one point.
The Storm lost their second game against a tough Handsworth (North Vancouver) squad. The Royals are ranked among the top five provincially, and the final score was 68-41. Peyton Norrish scored a team-high seven points for CSS.
The Storm finished on a high note, thumping Carson Graham (North Vancouver) 65-28 behind 16 points from Christina Vandenbrink and 13 from Rachel Vandenberg.
