Slammers score eight in first en-route to Abby rout

Kevin Naswell kept the Abbotsford offence in check, and two Chilliwack Slammers hit grand-slams in a one-sided men's fastpitch win.

The Chilliwack Slammers sport a record of 5-4 in the Fraser Valley Men's Fastpitch League competition.

Their last game, on June 13, was a one-sided blowout of the Abbotsford Blazers,

The Slammer bats got off to a torrid start, banging out seven hits and runs in the first inning. Catcher Rob Woodrow and first baseman Todd Morrison led the assault, each hitting grand-slams.

Adam Tuck added a two run dinger in the second inning to put them up 10-0.

Pitcher Kevin Naswell toed the rubber, shutting down the Blazer offence. Naswell allowed just four hits over five innings, while striking out eight.

Chilliwack played Shelcam Construction Thursday night, and faced the Blazers in a Friday double-header.
