Seven medals for Spartan at BC Summer Games

Chilliwack Spartan swimmer Brooke Kienas dazzled in Nanaimo, winning five individual and two team medals.

Five Chilliwack Spartan swimmers competed in last weekend’s BC Summer Games in Nanaimo, with one of them collecting seven medals.

The Games were open to swimmers ages 12-14 who’d posted suitable qualifying times at previous meets.

Brooke Kienas, a Mission native, won individual gold in the 100m freestyle.

She added silver in the 50m freestyle, 200m individual medley and 100m butterfly.

She added bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Kienas also swam on two medal-winning Fraser Valley zone teams. Her 4x50m IM relay crew won gold and her 4x50m freestyle team won bronze.

Wyatt Hine placed fifth in the 100m breaststroke, seventh in the 200m breaststroke and ninth in the 400m freestyle.

His 4x50m freestyle relay team finished fifth as well.

Other Spartan Swimmers attending the meet were Kara Wismer, Meghan Carmichael and Myles Wheeler
