Sarah Wark and Team B.C. are 4-3 at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts after an 8-6 loss to Ontario Wednesday morning.

The women’s national curling championship is taking place in Sydney, Nova Scotia and has been an up-and-down adventure for Wark, who competes in a Wednesday-night league at the Chilliwack Curling Club.

Joined by Kristen Pilote (third), Carley Sandwith (second) and Jen Rusnell (lead), Wark started the event 3-0 with wins over Nova Scotia (7-6), Manitoba (7-5) and Nunavut (10-1). But back-to-back heartbreaking losses to Alberta (9-8 in 11 ends) and Northern Ontario (8-7 in 11 ends) dropped her to 3-2 before she rebounded with a 7-6 win over Quebec.

But the loss to Ontario leaves Wark in a do-or-die scenario heading into Thursday.

She’ll face Manitoba (4-3) in a tie-breaker match starting at 9:30 a.m. to secure the last available berth into the championship pool.
