Gabe Mannes is lighting it up, but his team is still searching for its first win.

The GW Graham grad poured in another 25 points for his Columbia Bible College Bearcats in a basketball game last Friday against Langara College. Mannes added nine rebounds, four assists and a steal, but it wasn’t enough to ward off a 117-105 defeat that dropped CBC to 0-11 on the season, good for seventh spot in the seven team PACWest standings.

Mannes has been stuffing the stat-sheet for the Bearcats.

In nine games this season he’s averaging 23.1 points per game, shooting 45 per cent from the field.

The guard is adding 4.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game, but his team is running out of chances to get that elusive first victory.

CBC hosts the Camosun Chargers (3-7) Friday and Saturday. That may be the best opportunity for the Bearcats to crack the W column.

Mannes and company have a home-and-home with Capilano College (6-4) Feb. 8-9 and finish the season with a home-and-home versus Douglas College (8-4) Feb. 15-16.

Julia Sprott, Sydney Fraess and the Douglas College Royals dropped a pair of games to the Camosun Chargers last weekend.

Both GW Graham grads were in the starting lineup Friday in a 76-55 defeat.

Playing 23 minutes, Fraess contributed nine points on 4-10 shooting from the field, adding six rebounds, two assists and a steal. Playing 20 minutes, Sprott shot 1-5 from the field, netting two points with three rebounds and two steals.

Fraess logged 40 productive minutes in the Saturday night rematch, a 69-55 loss for her Royals.

Fraess drained 15 points, adding three rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Sprott saw 14 minutes of floortime, scoring two points with one rebound, one assist and one steal.

Douglas College fell to 5-6, good for fifth place in the seven team standings. They host the fourth place Okanagan College Coyotes (5-5) in games Friday and Saturday.
