Olympians on hand for Ultimate Raffle draw

Three Canadian Olympic women's soccer players are lending star status to Chilliwack FC's Ultimate Raffle.

Tickets for Chilliwack FC’s Ultimate Raffle are just above 60 per cent sold with the draw date now 10 days away.

CFC president Andrea Laycock believes there will be a late push, aided by news that Olympic athletes Sophie Schmidt, Brittany Timko and Emily Zurrer will be in town for the Oct. 27 draw.

Through the support of the Fraser Valley Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre and Waterstone Law Group, the three members of Canada’s bronze medal winning women’s soccer team will pull the lucky winners.

The prizes up for grabs are impressive.

Someone will drive off in a 2012 Ford Escape Limited from Chilliwack Ford.

Someone else will win a 2012 Harley Davidson Sportster from Mountainview Harley Davidson.

Two vacation packages are up for grabs, a trip for four to Disneyland (including air fare, hotel, and park passes) and a trip for two to Las Vegas.

Both trips have been provided by Roblin Travel.

Musicworx Audio Video Unlimited has put up a state-of-the-art home entertainment system.

The draw will take place at 2 p.m. at the Landing Sports Centre on Spadina Avenue. The Olympians will stick around afterwards, signing autographs until 4 p.m.

Funds raised through the raffle will go towards helping the City of Chilliwack lay artificial turf on the practice area at Exhibition Field when it is converted to the artificial surface in 2013.

Raffle tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at the Chilliwack FC office or by calling 604-702-0090. Single tickets hold 1 in 2000 odds of winning.
