Kawaguchi named BCHL Player of the Week

The Chilliwack Chiefs have won eight straight, coinciding with an offensive outburst from their captain.

Jordan Kawaguchi is the latest BCHL Player of the Week.

The Chilliwack Chiefs captain was recognized Monday after exploding for six goals and nine points in four games (all wins).

The Abbotsford native opened with two goals and an assist in a 7-3 win over Wenatchee where he was second star, and followed that with two goals, one assist and a first star nod in a 6-2 win over Cowichan Valley.

Kawaguchi had a goal and a helper in a 4-0 win in Coquitlam and wrapped up the week scoring the game-winner in a 4-1 victory over Nanaimo on Sunday.

Gooch now has 20 goals and 21 assists on the season. His goal Saturday in Coquitlam moved him past former Chilliwack captain Doug Ast into top spot all-time in franchise goal scoring.
