Chilliwack has three teams in action this weekend at Lower Mainland regional curling playdowns.

Lisa Deputan leads a local foursome into the senior women’s tournament at the Abbotsford Curling Club, with action starting Friday and continuing through Sunday.

Deputan is joined by Pam Cuthbert (third), Donna Maitland (second) and Crystal Murray (lead).

Kelly Jones skips a team from Chilliwack/Hope, joined by Debbie McKinney (third), Rosalee Floyd (second) and Pattie Desjardins (lead).

The field is five teams strong and will produce two qualifiers for the 2019 B.C. Senior Curling Championship, Feb. 19-24 in Trail.

Chilliwack’s Doug Marshall is in action on the men’s side, leading his team into the senior men’s tournament at the Abbotsford Curling Club.

It also runs Friday through Sunday, with a larger field.

Marshall teams with Kevin Britz (third), Ken Britz (second), Darren Jarvis (lead) and Colin Mantik (fifth). They go to war against eight other teams with two provincial berths up for grabs.

The ultimate goal for the local teams is to make their way through this weekend’s playdowns, on to provincials and then on to nationals with the opportunity to curl at home.

The Chilliwack Curling Club will host the 2019 Everest Canadian Senior Curling Championships in its new building March 22-28.
