Final round fireworks for Clapp as MacKenzie Tour ends

Chilliwack Golf Club instructor Brad Clapp had one of his finest rounds of the season to wrap up the Freedom 55 Financial Championship.

Brad Clapp shot a scorching 64 in the final round of the Freedom 55 Financial Championship, sliding into the top 50 at the year end event.The last tournament of the 2016 MacKenzie PGA Tour Canada schedule found the Chilliwackian in London, ON., teeing off at the Highland Country Club.Clapp started strong in Thursday’s opening round.He eagled the fourth hole, birdied four others and ended the day three under par.Disaster struck in round two as Clapp opened with bogeys on three of the first four holes.A bad round turned horrible on 17 when Clapp took eight shots to navigate a par-four hole.He finished the round at five over (75), the worst score in the 57 man field.The Chilliwack Golf Club instructor rebounded with a perfectly average third round that saw him birdie two holes, bogey two and par the rest for an even 70.Clapp had no shot at top spot heading into Sunday, but that didn’t stop him from posting perhaps his best round of the season.Clapp set the tone with a birdie on one and added six more en-route to a six-under 64.His four round 276 was 18 back of the tournament winner, French golfer Paul Barjon.Clapp finished his third season on tour with $17,230 in total winnings.He had two top-10 finishes, placing eighth at the SIGA Dakota Dunes Open and ninth at the Bayview Place Island Savings Open.He added a 19th place showing at the Freedom 55 Financial Open and a 25th place finish at the Cape Breton Open.Get a full look at his season results online at pgatour.com/players/player.39444.brad-clapp.html/season
