Four Chilliwack skaters were at last week’s Female U-18 Invitational Selection Camp, hosted by B.C. Hockey and held in Cowichan Lake.
Goaltender Kate Stuart and forwards Sara Vander Hoek, Taylor Read and Tamina Kehler participated in on and off-ice skill sessions, fitness testing and seminars before diving into a weekend’s worth of games.
Starting Friday and continuing through Sunday, all of the prospects were split into six teams for a tournament.
Vander Hoek played for Team Navy, Read for Team Green and Stuart/Kehler for Team Purple.
The prize at the end? A possible invite to Hockey B.C.’s provincial camp, running July 13–16, in Shawnigan Lake, B.C.
And beyond that, a chance to represent their province at the 2017 Women’s U-18 National Championship in Quebec City, QC this fall.
The Chilliwack four are members of the Female Program of Excellence.
