Chilliwack’s Michaela Read leads Lindenwood Lynx into nationals

Read’s team competes in the NCAA Div-1 female hockey tournament next week in Columbus, Ohio.

Chilliwack hockey star Michaela Read is heading to NCAA nationals next week with the Lindenwood-Belleville Lynx.

The American Collegiate Hockey Association tournament runs March 14-18 in Columbus Ohio, with Read’s crew coming in as the fifth seed.

The Lynx will open the tournament against the fourth ranked Miami (Ohio) University RedHawks.

Other schools in the eight team field are the top-ranked Liberty University Flames, No. 2 Adrian College Bulldogs, No. 3 Michigan State Spartans, No. 6 University of Colorado Buffaloes, No. 7 University of Massachusetts Minutemen and No. 8 University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Read’s Lynx are a member of the Western Women’s Collegiate Hockey League.

They compiled a 22-7-1 record in 30 regular season games to finish second in their division.

Read, a GW Graham grad, enjoyed a solid rookie campaign with eight goals and 17 points in 26 games.
