Chilliwack’s Ken Watson rink stormed through the field at last weekend’s Masters Mens’ Lower Mainland playdown, earning one of five provincial berths.

Watson was joined by Dale Hockley (third), Russ Knutsen (second) and Victor Miller (lead).

They tackled a 10 team field at the Mission Curling Club, needing just three matches to get the job done.

In their Friday afternoon opener they needed just five ends to swat Dave Smith’s Royal City rink by a 7-0 count.

They stayed hot Saturday, doubling up a Paul Dunkin rink that was a mix of Royal City and Vancouver Curling Club members.

Their final match was a close one, a 6-5 win over Bill Rafter’s Tunnel Town/Delta Thistle crew.

Watson trailed 5-2 through six ends, but scored one in the seventh and two in the eighth to pull out the win.

The 2018 B.C. Masters Curling Championship runs Mar. 6-11 in Creston.
