Chilliwackians make mark at masters meet

Members of the Chilliwack Masters Swim Club won five races at the North Shore Masters Swim Meet.

The Chilliwack Masters Swim Club sent four swimmers to the North Shore Masters Swim Meet on Oct. 15.They went head to head with 123 swimmers representing 15 clubs from the Lower Mainland, Squamish, Vancouver Island and the Okanagan. In the women’s 18-24 category, Kayt Hine placed first in the 100 metre backstroke, second in 50m butterfly and third in the 50 and 100m freestyles. In the same category, teammate Hebrina McInroy placed second in the 50m breaststroke and 200m individual medley, third in the 50m butterfly and fourth in the 50m freestyle. In the men’s 40-44 division, Andrew Carmichael placed first in the 25m butterfly and 100m individual medley and second in 50m breaststroke and freestyle. In the men’s 65-69 division, Neil Reeder placed first in the 25 and 50m breaststrokes. He placed second in the 25m freestyle and third in the 50m freestyle. The Chilliwack four also competed in the 120-159 age category in the 200m freestyle relay, placing second.The Chilliwack Masters Swim Club holds practices Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. at the Landing Leisure Center.
