Chilliwack swimmer grabs gold at UBC Invitational

A team of Chilliwack Spartan swimmers traveled to the University of British Columbia campus last weekend, testing themselves at the UBC Invitational meet.

Four Spartans earned top eight placements swimming in the female open division, which saw athletes of various ages competing in the same races.

Haley Klenk grabbed top spot in the 200 metre backstroke and finished fourth in the 200m freestyle, adding an eighth place showing in the 50m freestyle.

Anna Dumont-Belanger placed third in the 200 metre individual medley and seventh in the 100m freestyle while Sheigh Gaudette finished second in the 100m breaststroke and seventh in the 200m individual medley. Tobyn Smith was fourth in the 200m backstroke.

Three Spartans earned top-eight finishes in the male open division.

Mervin Jerodico was sixth in the 200m individual medley and eighth in the 100 and 200m breaststrokes.

Logan Sparkes was sixth in the 200 and 800m freestyles and Myles Wheeler placed eighth in the 400m freestyle and 200m butterfly.
