Chilliwack soccer stars power Fraser Valley selects to provincial championship

A group of Chilliwack soccer players are provincial champs, after helping the U-15 Fraser Valley Selects take the title last weekend.

Seventeen players make up the roster of the Fraser Valley Selects.

Seven are from Chilliwack and all are alums of the Chilliwack FC program. They are Andrew Hajiadem, James Bartha, Tobias Regehr, Jackson Lau, Malakai Moore, Roland Mansell, and Frederick Mansell.

Their team traveled to South Surrey for the four team Provincial A (Metro) tournament that included the Vancouver Island Premier League Storm, Kelowna United Junior Heat and Port Moody AC Selects.

The Fraser Valley crew went 3-0 in pool play, beating Kelowna 2-0, the Storm 3-1 and Port Moody 5-1. They finished the championship chase with a 3-0 triumph over Kelowna.

Lau was the goalkeeper for all four games.

Regehr captained the team and produced three goals and two assists in the tourney. James Bartha was on fire, collecting five goals and two assists.

Roland Mansell had two goals. Moore had three assists and Frederick Mansell one assist.

The team is coached by Dave Corke and Gary Lau.
