Chilliwack golfer tackles Pagoda Ridge at Lindsay Kenney Classic

Mitchell Thiessen is near the top of the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour rankings after a handful of early-season tournaments.

Chilliwack’s Mitchell Thiessen shot 148 over two days at the latest Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s Lindsay Kenney Classic, finishing third in the junior boys division.

Thiessen carded an opening round 73 last Saturday on the Pagoda Ridge Golf Course in Langley, and followed up with a 75 on Sunday.

Thiessen had four birdies and tied with Mill Bay native Tristan Mandur, both three shots behind division winner Adam Veenstra of Smithers.

Ninety four golfers teed it up in six divisions, battling for the chance to be short-listed for the IMG Academy Junior World Championships in San Diego, CA, this July.

The next MJT stop is May 28-29 at Swan-e-set Bay Resort in Pitt Meadows.
