Chilliwack goalie jumping from Chiefs to Chargers

Mark Sinclair's next hockey stop will be the NCAA's University of Alabama-Huntsville.

Chilliwack Chiefs netminder Mark Sinclair has secured a hockey spot for 2017-18, signing on with the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

The UAH Chargers are a division one program playing in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).

Sinclair will be joining an improving program that is currently in its third season in the WCHA, sporting a  .500 mark in conference play. WCHA competes against Alaska, Alaska-Anchorage, Bowling Green, Ferris State, Northern Michigan, Michigan Tech, Lake Superior State, Bemidji State and Minnesota State.

The UAH roster includes several BCHL alums. Captain Brent Fletcher is a former Merritt Centennial. Other BCHL grads on the Chargers roster are Hunter Anderson, Regan Soquila and Kurt Gosselin.

Sinclair should be entering a good situation with an immediate shot to earn playing time as the team’s current goalies are in their final or second-last college seasons.

The native of Hamilton, Ont. is second in the BCHL with 19 wins and 1,699 minutes played.
