The Chilliwack Chiefs split a pair of tough road games last weekend, beating Trail and losing to Penticton.

The Chiefs invaded Trail’s Cominco Arena Friday and skated off with a convincing 5-2 win.

Chilliwack out-shot the Smoke Eaters 34-25, getting two goals apiece from Kevin Wall and super-rookie Ethan Bowen and a single from Cole Donhauser. Skyler Brind’Amour and Harrison Blaisdell had two assists each and starting goalie Mathieu Caron stopped 23 pucks for his league-leading 13th win of the season.

Caron was back between the pipes Saturday for a game that didn’t go nearly as well.

The Vees dropped the Chiefs 5-2 at the South Okanagan Events Centre, led by a two-goal effort from Brendon Harrogate.

Blaisdell and Brett Willits collected the Chilliwack goals with Carter Wilkie setting up both, and Caron stopped 25 of 30 shots. His Chiefs (13-5-0-0) continue to lead the BCHL standings, with a one point edge over the Merritt Centennials (11-7-0-0).

Within the Mainland division, Chilliwack leads the Coquitlam Express (11-5-1-0) by three points and the Prince George Spruce Kings (10-5-0-1) by five.

Individually, Kevin Wall’s 24 points leave him one behind Merritt’s Bradley Cocca for the league lead and he has a BCHL-best 13 goals.

Chilliwack has a busy weekend coming up, starting with a Friday night home game versus the Victoria Grizzlies at Prospera Centre (7 p.m.).

They visit the Langley Rivermen Saturday and are back home Sunday afternoon (2 p.m.) versus the BCHL cellar-dwelling Cowichan Capitals.
