Cooper Moore is the latest Chilliwack Chiefs alum to win an NCAA award this season.
The first-year defenceman has just been named the Defenceman of the Week in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.
Moore is a teammate of Jordan Kawaguchi’s on the University of North Dakota (UND) Fighting Hawks. He collected two points last weekend as UND split a pair of road games with the Omaha Mavericks. Both points came in a 6-2 win Friday. Moore scored his second goal of the season just 85 seconds in to open the scoring, adding the primary assist on the fourth Fighting Hawks goal.
Moore has five points in 14 games.
He played for Chilliwack last year and led the BCHL in goals by a defenceman with 12. He tied for 13th in scoring by blueliners with 33 points in 55 games. He is a Detroit Red Wings prospect, picked in the fifth round (128th overall) of the 2019 National Hockey League draft.
