Chilliwack atom Bruins win Fraser Valley flight-one title

The hockey team clinched the championship at a Final Four tournament in Delta.

Chilliwack’s atom A1 Bruins did something that no local team has done since way back in the early 1990s, winning the Fraser Valley Conference flight- one championship.

The team of 17 was made up of 14 players born in 2008 and three born in 2009.

They had the most wins of any team in their flight during the regular season and qualified for a Final Four tournament that was held in Delta March 9-11.

The locals faced off against Langley in their opener, skating to a 3-2 win.

After losing 9-2 to South Delta, Chilliwack rebounded to beat Ridge Meadows 4-2.

Members of the Bruins are Kale Bartel, Saysha Brace, Nikolas Buckle, Nick Catellier, Davin Chyld, Zach Herfst, Phoenix Hinks, Deegan Holding, Isaiah Krahn, Tai Krahn, James MacDonald, Evan Maloney, Logan Martin, TJ Raack, Hayden Rampton, Andrew Suttie and Lincoln Spanner.

Clayton Catellier was the head coach, assisted by Crosby Rampton and Clayton Krahn. Jason Suttie was the equipment manager and Hockey Canada safety person and Sarah Bartel was the manager.
