Twenty BCHL grads earned All-Academic honours in the Atlantic Hockey Association this year.
To do so, they had to post a grade-point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0-point scale. In a record-setting year for the AHA, 179 skaters met that standard, with 14 posting GPAs of 4.0 or better.
The Rochester Institute of Technology led the ex-BCHL smart-guy parade with five All-Academics. Former Surrey Eagle Scott Knowles made the list for the fourth time, joined by two-time winners Greg Noyes (Surrey) and Josh Watson (Powell River). Other Tigers making their first All-Academic appearances were Matt Garbowsky (Powell River) and Brad Reid (Salmon Arm).
The Robert Morris Colonials had three BCHL grads making the grade, led by two-time winner Jimmy Geerin (Merritt). The others were Jeff Jones (Merritt) and Scott Jacklin (Trail).
The Connecticut Huskies matched the Colonials with Marcello Ranallo (Alberni Valley) and ex-Langley Chiefs Jordan Sims and Kevin Tuohy.
The College of the Holy Cross Crusaders saw Jeff Reppucci (Alberni Valley) and Erik Vos (Powell River) both making All-Academic for a second time.
The American International College Yellow Jackets had Matt Cassidy (Cowichan Valley) and Nick Sandor (Trail) making the list.
Stephen Caple (Westside) made All-Academic for the fourth time with the Air Force Academy Falcons.
Cody Ikkala (Vernon) made All-Academic for the third time with the Army Academy Black Knights and Jason Beattie (Salmon Arm) won for a second time with the Niagra Purple Eagles.
Alex Grieve (Westside) made the list with the Bentley Falcons and Jared Eng did it with the Sacred Heart Pioneers.
