While the Global Climate Strike event at Five Corners on Sept. 20 drew approximately 200 people, young and old, the follow-up event a week later was at least half as big again.

The difference between the two events was that the latter was dominated by, and led by, high school students.

Teenagers from Chilliwack Secondary, Sardis Secondary and G.W. Graham all spoke at the packed event at Five Corners on Sept. 27.

Many of the adults who spoke at the Sept. 20 event watched and applauded as young people spoke emotionally about the dire climate situation.
