Parents can help reduce the traffic danger

Re: Bus shelter recommendation draws anger, Chilliwack Progress, April 12.

I agree that children may be in danger from large vehicles while waiting for the school bus on Chilliwack Lake Road. I also understand the problems of building bus shelters that will be convenient for all the students, as they live on streets all along Chilliwack Lake Road. Accommodating everyone would be expensive and not practical.

Rather than asking the government to solve this problem, why not take the solution into our own hands?  If one adult accompanied the children to each of the pick-up points, there would be adult supervision to ensure that no children were putting themselves in danger.

I live in a park on this road and know that some parents have done this and I commend them for taking the time to keep the children safe.
