In a recent CBC interview, Jay Baruchel, who was involved in the production of the movie Blackberry, bemoaned that many Canadians know so little of their history.

For example, he wondered how many knew about the Halifax explosion of 1917. Which made me take it one step further. How many know about the Ripple Rock explosion of 1958 (in Seymour Narrows off Campbell River), which at that time was the world’s largest non-nuclear explosion?

Of course, nowadays it is not hard to find information on both of the above on the internet. The fact remains, If someone does not bring it to your attention will you even think to find out about it?
