Appalled! That’s exactly how I felt when I read about the proposed chlorination of Chilliwack water — water hailed as the best in the world quality-wise, and the best in the world taste-wise. I have lived in Chilliwack for two years and everyone in my family, including my daughter (Please pay attention Dr. Lem), drinks tap water. Probably Dr. Lem and his daughter rely solely on bottled water and probably that’s what he’d want us to do.
Chlorination of the sweet tasting Chilliwack will not benefit the people of Chilliwack, rather it will benefit the corporations who want to displace this water with their own brands of pure, safe, and tasty bottled water. Let people themselves use chlorine tablets, if they feel threatened by three E.coli cases in four years, and please let us, who are happy and healthy with our water, continue to consume it.
