William (Bill) John Knight passed away suddenly in his Chilliwack, BC home during the early hours of June 9, 2005.
His wife, Lovelett, and family members were in during this time. Lovelett Knight (nee: Single), his wife of 37 years, and children, Timothy - 36 years, Vanessa - 35, Rebekah - 28, Patrick - 24, Michael - 23, wish very much to celebrate the gifts God has given through Bill: husband, father, and friend. He resolutely protected each one. He lived the meaning of the word fidelity, loving Lovelett more dearly each day. To his children, he showed great personal sacrifice and faith-filled courage in the face of adversity, and was a friend with whom we could confide and laugh.
He has pressed “on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called” him “heavenward in Christ Jesus”.
He has overcome. We believe and are fully persuaded that Christ is able to keep our dearly beloved until we meet again in His holy presence.
Bill was born in Windsor, Newfoundland, on June 22, 1945.
His military service with the 2nd Battalion Canadian Guards from 1964 to 1967 included theatres in Canada and Cyprus and he was awarded the United Nations Medal (UNFICYP) Cyprus. He also served in Canada with the Royal Canadian Regiment from 1968 to 1973.
He is predeceased by his father, William John Knight, Sr., his mother, Greta Rose Knight (nee: Reid), and his sister, Patricia Rita and her husband Donald Murray.
Left to mourn are sisters: May (Jerome Murray) and family; Florence (Jim Bouzanne) and family; Madeline (Wayne Downton) and family; Christine (Karl Bowers) and family; special brother, Johnny; brothers, Frank (Pam) and family; Jim (Nancy) and family; Stephen; Andrew (Kelly); sisters-in-law, Wavey Harnett and family; Flora and James Robinson and family; Ruth and Eugene Wall and family; Lois Single; Zelma and John Aird and family; Letitia Single and family, and Otto Sturm; Rebekah and William Halley and family; brothers-in-law, Frank and Phyllis Single and family; Monte Single.
On Wednesday, June 15th, 2005, prayers and viewing for family, relatives, and friends will take place starting 7:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 8909 Mary Street, Chilliwack BC V2P4J4, Tel: 604-792-2764. The funeral mass will begin at 11:00am the following morning, June 16th at St. Mary’s and Bill Knight will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Promontory Road, Chilliwack, BC.
