April 13, 1931 - April 16, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Willem (Bill) Stad on Thursday, April 16th at age 89. Bill was born April 13th,1931 to Cornelis and Annigje Stad at Bergentheim, The Netherlands.
Having spent his youth in Holland, Bill sailed on to his next adventure, immigrating to Canada in 1949, spending a few months with an Uncle in Northern BC, a couple years in Toronto, and then back West to Victoria where he married Adriaantje in 1959. After working for Woodward's in both Victoria and Calgary, Bill moved to Abbotsford and then his final hometown Chilliwack.
Bill enjoyed many things such as gardening, reading, sharing his adventures during the war and his early years in Canada, and his years running Central Cycle & Sporting Goods, but most of all he loved God and his family, which is most evident in the legacy that he has left in our hearts and lives.
Bill was preceded by his wife of 59 years, Audrey, and daughter Linda, brothers John and Klaas and sister Gina. Surviving Bill are his children Anita, Caroline, Leonard, Neil, Judy and Grace, sisters Roelie, Jenny and Annie, 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a more appropriate time this year. Our family thanks the doctors and nurses at CGH for their loving care and attention to Dad in his final days.
