Walter Robert Funk

December 16, 1951 - August 7, 2022
A loving remembrance of a man dearly loved!!
Walter passed away on August 7th, 2022 at the Penticton Hospital after an intense battle with pancreatic cancer. Walter was born on December 16, 1951 in Vancouver, B.C. and adopted by David and Annie Funk. Walter was a cherished son, an amazing brother, and dearly loved by nieces and nephews who knew him as "The Dude". Walter also had the ability to make many friends, whose friendships he valued deeply.
His growing up years were spent on a farm in Aldergrove, B.C. Later in life, he lived in Abbotsford, Yarrow, Fort St. John and Olalla. Most of his working career was spent operating heavy machinery. His Harley Davidson bike became his favourite recreational vehicle, spending time on the road and enjoying the beauty of nature.
Walter was predeceased by his parents, David and Annie Funk, two nephews, Byron and Colin Richert. Walter leaves to mourn his sisters, Lorena Richert (Wilfred), Anita Schmidt (Manfred); nephews and nieces: Kelly Richert, Kristina Manyk (Michael), Karen Schmidt, Curtis Schmidt (Pauline). He is also deeply mourned by Heather and Hannah Richert, Ethan and Kallum Hoover, Clara and Olivia Manyk, Noah Schmidt. He is also mourned by Deidre, Geoff, Gavin, Joel Ewart; Ashley, Jon, Keyawna Maddalozzo; and many friends.
Our sincere thanks for the excellent care Walter received at the Palliative Care Unit at the Penticton Hospital.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 17, at 11:00 am at the Coast Hotel, 45920 First Ave., Chilliwack, BC.
