It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Violet Fleenor on March 31, 2013 at the Cascade Lodge, Chilliwack, BC.

Violet is survived by her husband of 63 years Hubert (Bert) Fleenor; sons: Bruce (Colleen) of Cawston, BC, Joseph of Port McNeil, BC, Colin (Gail) and Dennis (Jacque) of Chilliwack, BC; grandchildren: Kagney (Carlie), Brandon, Rena (Dave) Lerette, Dustin, Jordan (Faye), Cody (Kayla), Seth, Wiley and Toby; great-grandchildren: Aksel, James, Braydon, Rylee, Adrion and Kardence. She is also survived by her step-sisters: Eleanora Upham and Erma Roed and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Predeceased by brothers: Albert, Samuel, Fredrick and Adolph; sisters: Verna Moseanko, Louise Quast, Hazel Hooper; and step-sisters: Ella Hanley and Frieda Vanstone.

Violet was born in Maunders, Alberta to Emma (Janke) and Tobias Quast. When she was only four years old her father died and later her Mother married Robert Weber bringing together a large blended family.

In 1946 the family moved to Chilliwack and it was there she met Bert Fleenor, marrying him June 11, 1949.

In the 1970’s they sold their farm, bought a Winnebago and travelled extensively throughout the United States. They later lived in Vancouver and moved back to Chilliwack in the 1980’s. She was a member of the Women’s Community Institute Promontory Heights Branch for 55 years.

Violet was a very special lady who will be remembered for her beautiful smile and quiet ways.

A special thank you to Dr. Quentin Smith and all the wonderful caring staff at the Norman Manor, Chilliwack General Hospital and the Cascade Lodge. A memorial service will be held April 6, 2013 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Church, 8871 School Street, Chilliwack, BC.
