It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a belovedmother, grandmother, and great grandmother. On May 16, Vera Joan Rawlyck passed from her earthly life and was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and began her new eternal life in heaven.
Vera was born in Edmonton Alberta, the second of five children born to John and Patty Harris who immigrated to Canada from the U.K.
In 1942 Vera married the love of her life, Peter Rawlyck. Peter served In the RCAF until his retirement in 1964 in Edmonton. They retired to the Shuswap Lakes in 1990, living in Blind Bay and Salmon Arm. They were blessed with five children and 69 years of marriage until Peter's passing in 2012. Vera moved to Chilliwack that year to be closer to family. Soon after she moved into Cascade Lodge where she was cared for by the dedicated staff there for five years. She is survived by one brother Jerald (Pat) Harris, and five children, Jack (Bonnie) Rawlyck, Terrence (Jody) Rawlyck, Gail(Jim) Davis, Danny(Joan) Rawlyck, and Melissa Gallagher, as well as 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Vera has left a beautiful legacy as a wise counselor,loving encourager, and faithful prayer warrior.
A memorial service to remember Vera was held at Henderson's Funeral Home in Chilliwack on May 22, 2019.
