Pilz, Traugard "Ted". January 29, 1928 - February 1, 2014. It is with heavy heart we announce the sudden passing of our father, 86 years of age, Traugard Pilz, after a short stay in Chilliwack General Hospital. Ted was born in the Ukraine in 1928, moved to Germany as a youngster and as a young man of 20 years of age, he came to Canada in 1948 where he stayed with relatives. He then traveled to Edmonton, Alberta, which became his residence for a number of years. While in Edmonton he ran his own bakery, was in real estate, construction and had a hobby farm. He was very active with the Chamber of Commerce in Edmonton, as well as other organizations involved with the community. Moving to Chilliwack in 1974, he was head Baker at the The Harrison Hotel and was also a businessman. Ted decided to once again move back to Edmonton in the late 1980s and as a baker retired in 1994. In all his years of life he was many, many things...he was a baker, entrepreneur, soldier, gamesman, hunter, fisherman, artist, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, who will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. Funeral services will take place in New Sarepta, Alberta on June 24 at 11:00am, St. John's Lutheran Church with interment at the cemetery after the service.
