Susan Moore passed away peacefully at the age of 87 with her family at her side on February 15, 2013 at the Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack following a brief battle with cancer.

She is predeceased by her husband Capt. Philip John Moore; parents: Daniel and Susie Hoppe; her siblings at a very young age, Daniel and Laura; as well as the oldest Hoppe family children, Frank and Ella; and younger sister, Marie.

She is survived by her sons: Philip (Debbie), Fred (Teresa) and David (Vicki); her grandchildren: Nathan, Vanessa (Jason), Riley and Kailey; her great grandchild, Seth; and her sisters: Alice Hoppe and Bertha Vogt who reside in Abbotsford and Chilliwack. Sue was born the fourth child March 17, 1925 in Orenburg, Russia. She emigrated with this traditional Mennonite family, farming through Alberta and Manitoba before settling in Greendale BC in 1931. She married Phil in Chilliwack in 1951, and after a tour in Europe during his time with the PPCLI, Sue came home to Chilliwack in August 1967 with Phil and the three boys where they were able to reconnect with her family and built happy memories. She will spend eternity with her husband Phil and part of her will always be with him on the beaches of Denman Island and in the hearts of those she has left behind. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff at the Cascade Hospice and the many family and friends that made Sue’s end of life experience so special. The family would like to extend our heart-filled thanks to the doctors and all the staff at Chilliwack’s Cascade Hospice. A family celebration of life will be held for Sue at the Coast Chilliwack Hotel 45920 First Avenue on Friday, March 1, 2013; 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Cash donations at the door will be accepted on behalf of the Cascade Hospice.
