Sadie Mae Hannah

August 22, 1923 - January 17, 2017

In the early morning hours on Tuesday, January 17, Sadie Mae Hannah peacefully passed into eternity. She had been living the last number of years at Cheam Village in Agassiz, BC, sadly with Alzheimer's. Sadie was the second youngest child born in Oak Lake, Manitoba, to parents Norman Leslie Boyce and Mabel Viola Boyce. She was the last surviving of all her siblings, Gladys Humphrey (Aris), Elsie Cosco (Peter), Edna Hollier (Herb), Esther Phillips (Ab), only brother John Boyce (Camie), and Norma Brown (Cecil). During Sadie's younger years, she was very athletic. She played baseball, hockey, curling and golf. For many years she was head cashier at a grocery store in Hope, BC, while raising her only son Rex Birch. In 1979, Sadie married Norman Hannah in Chilliwack. Sadie was predeceased by her husband Norman Hannah in April 2008, and by her son Rex in Edmonton, AB, in November 2011, and (step) great grandbaby boy in 2012. She is survived by her 4 step children, Steve Hannah (Marlene), Beth Nabe (Lloyd), Susan Hannah, and Maureen Daase (Herb), as well as her 9 (step) grandchildren, and 13 (step) great grandchildren. Also, by her nephew Bob Humphrey (Christine) and other family members and friends. We have many happy memories to cherish. She made the Best Nanaimo bars in the world...we always told her, "you could make a fortune selling these!" For years she kept us all in warm slippers, beautifully knit baby outfits for all of her grand babies, sweaters, and the best dishcloths! We will miss you Sadie, but look forward to seeing you again in Heaven one day. The family wishes to thank the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Cheam Village for all their tender care of Sadie. At Sadie's request, there will be no funeral.
