Some highlights of his career include Pope protection service (Popemobile), Rambo, mad trappers, crazy, sometimes dangerous, but often humorous, traffic incidents, motorcycle instructor ("F-Troop") and the "BAT-mobile". He trained for the Musical Ride both on horseback and motorcycle.
Russ had a lively sense of humour and was well known for his jokes and antics. He enjoyed fishing and was a devoted Chilliwack Chiefs Hockey fan and long-time season ticket holder. He also loved travelling, which he did extensively all over the world after his retirement.
