Ronald Anthony (Tony) Wattie, lawyer, of Abbotsford, British Columbia passed away on 9th September 2022 at the age of 79. Tony grew up in Victoria, BC, attending Glenlyon Elementary school and Victoria High School. He started his university career at University College in Victoria before transferring to the University of British Columbia for their Honours Programme. On graduating from UBC with Honours in 1964, Tony won the Dean's Scholarship to Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Ontario, graduating in 1966. After graduation from Osgoode, Tony served as an officer in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery before joining Russell and DuMoulin in Vancouver in 1968 to commence his lifelong practice of law.
After several years at Russell and DuMoulin he left the firm and moved to Abbotsford going into partnership with Peter Linley and Larry Duignan. In 2010, the firm of Linley, Duignan, Wattie and Brown disbanded, and Tony joined Linley Weldwood. Four years later he left Linley Weldwood and set up Wattie Law Corporation.
Tony was in his element in the courtroom representing his clients and many unusual cases. He continued to practice the law which he loved, never retiring, until his passing. Predeceased by his son James, he is survived by his wife, Angela, his daughter Kate, his son Robert and his two granddaughters, Lucy and Elsie.
A service will be held on Saturday, November 26th at St. Ann's Church at 33333 Mayfair Ave, Abbotsford at 11:30 am. There will be refreshments following the service at St. Ann's Hall.
