Aug. 23, 1936 - Sept 7, 2012

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear Rodger, who passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He left us peacefully with his wife Christine (Klingenberg) at his side.

Rodger “with a d” was born in Hanna, Alberta and moved to Chilliwack as a child. He attended Sardis Elementary School, Chilliwack Middle, and Chilliwack Sr. Secondary. He lived most of his life in Vancouver where he worked as a building superintendent for BC Building Corporation until his retirement in 1995. He and Christine moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1997.

Always a man who worked with his hands to make things better, Rodger renovated several houses, built ponds and streams - the couple were always busy with a project. He loved the water and built three trimarans, the last a 38’ beauty named Attamun. Many happy hours were spent together sailing along the coast and travelling in their motorhome across Canada and Mexico.

Rodger is survived by Christine, his loving wife of 24 years; sister, Noreen; brothers: Richard (late Barbara) and Shawn (Maureen); and half sister Georgina. It broke his heart to lose his brother Ian (Bonnie) at the age of 47. Also missing this wonderful man are his mother-in-law Marie Klingenberg; and sisters-in-law, Madeline (Doug) and Monica. Rodger is greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and his sweet little Chloe, who is still waiting for him to come home.

Our most sincere gratitude for the wonderful care given to Rodger in his final days by St. Mary’s Hospital ICU and ACU nurses, and Dr. Wadge, who all treated him with such kindness, compassion and respect.
