(nee Porter) Rita Dolores Kovich (nee Porter) passed away on January 26, 2013 at Chilliwack, BC at age 81 years. She was born March 5, 1931 in Oxbow, Saskatchewan. Rita is survived by her children Bev Kovich, Wayne Kovich, Janice (Sol) Martins, Heather (Joe) Rieder, Rodney (Sandi) Kovich and Donald Kovich; twelve grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Lois Stinn, Lloyd (Sonya)Porter and Elizabeth (Ted) Howe. She was predeceased by John, her husband of 40 years, her siblings, Keith Porter, Phyllis Payne, Ken Porter and her grandson, Seif Martins. Rita worked at the Royal Hotel in Chilliwack before marrying and raising six children with John. As the children grew, Rita moved on to work at the Saan Store for 25 years. A Memorial Service for Rita will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Chilliwack United Church, 45835 Spadina Ave. Chilliwack.
The family wishes to express their deep thanks to Dr. Ken Hirst, the nursing and support staffs on 3-North at the Chilliwack General Hospital for all the care provided to Rita while she was there. They will always be remembered for their compassion and caring.
