January 23, 1933 - December 4, 2019
Pierrette was born January 23rd, 1933 in Aylmer, Quebec to Joseph Joanisse and Salvada Methot, the youngest of their 9 children. Growing up during the depression, the family welcomed others into their home with kindness and generosity, a trait that Pierrette carried with her throughout her life. She attended a private girl's school where her interest in classical studies opened a passion for travel that led her to visit many countries on all the continents of the world. She excelled in the fine art of sewing and needlework and enjoyed giving her beautiful creations as gifts to her many friends and relatives.
In 1955, she married Joseph Leo Pol de Montigny, a handsome young medical graduate, in Hull, Quebec. Pol's internship brought them to B.C. where they and their four children eventually settled in Chilliwack. Pierrette helped with the success of Pol's medical practice by ensuring that the office ran efficiently and effectively. Pierrette loved to cook and entertain, and she is still remembered for the generous hospitality she provided to family and friends including the many school friends of her children. Always fit and active, for many years she was a regular at aerobics and stretching classes at Chilliwack's YMCA and she loved tending her beautiful garden.
Sadly, vascular dementia took our wonderful mother on December 4th, 2019. She is predeceased by her husband Pol in 2006 and survived by their 4 children Pierre, Charles, Louise (Raoul) and Suzanne (John), her 8 grandchildren Joseph and Jacqueline de Montigny, Marc and Kyle de Montigny, Jaspar and Oliver Wiart, and Philippe and Andre Yu and by her 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16th at 2 pm at St Mary's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Chilliwack Hospice Society.
