It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Peter Swityk on January 19, 2010, at the age of 87, in Chilliwack General Hospital. Peter was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan on July 26, 1922.
A Veteran, Peter served as a wireless operator in World War Two between the years of 1941 to 1945. He then returned home and studied business administration at the University of Alberta between 1945-1950. Peter was then employed by Mannix, a heavy construction company, based out of Calgary, Alberta, as an administrative controller. He remained in their employment from 1950 to 1985.
Peter was the former owner of the Wooden Shoe Pub in Rosedale, B.C. from 1980 to 1987, when he sold the business and moved to Kelowna, B.C. to take on new ventures. After the loss of his first wife, Nora Swityk, Peter met and married his second wife Marleen in December of 2000. They then moved to Chilliwack, B.C. in 2005 where he lived out his last years.
Peter will be dearly missed by his wife Marleen Swityk, brothers Bill Swityk and Julian North, daughters Sonya Swityk and Sharon Ferbey, and son Wayne Swityk. Grandsons Landon Bishop Swityk, Dustin Ferbey, Michael and David Swityk. Granddaughters Nevada Bishop Swityk, Sasha MacMillan and Shelley Swityk. Great-grandson Trevor Swityk and great-granddaughter Dallas MacMillan.
Stepdaughters Angie Waldo, Connie Mussell and Suzanne Stotz. Stepson Perry Waldo. Step-grandsons Stephen Mussell, Corey Hewlett, Carter Stotz, Grady Stotz, Ashton Waldo and Travis Waldo. Step-granddaughters Breanna Mussell, Megan Hewlett, Jade, Jessie and Kyla Waldo.
Half-brothers William E. Swityk and Albert H. Swityk; half-sisters Victoria Flora A. Bellefeville, Gloria Finlay, Theresa D. Iwanicha and Marian Foreman.
Peter was loved by all he met, always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say.
Predeceased by his first wife Nora Swityk in June 1999.
Peter requested his immediate family gather together for a remembrance dinner. This will be held on January 30, 2010 in Kelowna, B.C.
