It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother Patricia, at the age of 74. Mom was surrounded by her loving family as she made her final journey into God’s arms, to be reunited with her beloved husband Hector. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. She’ll be remembered for her love & devotion to each & everyone of her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Patricia was born and raised on a farm in St. Boniface, Manitoba to Jean & Cecile DeGagne. She was 1 of 11 sisters & 4 brothers. As a young girl she loved to play with her sisters, but enjoyed hanging out with her brothers as well. Growing up she met a young man named Hector & they became friends, fell in love & married. They made Winnipeg their home & had 7 children before moving to Chilliwack, B.C. in October 1965, where they had their 8th child. When dad retired from the CFB Chilliwack after 19 years, they made the decision to make Hope, BC home, until her loving husband of 51 years passed away. Mom stayed on for a short time until she moved back to Chilliwack to be closer to her children where she made The Waverly Seniors Village her home.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband: Hector in 2005, an infant son: Raymond; parents: Jean & Cecile DeGagne; as well as 5 sisters: Rose, Irene, Denise, Laurette-Germaine; 1 brother: Jean-Paul.
Mom is survived by her 7 children: Louise [Wayne], Denis, Michelle [Jim], Renald, Jacqueline [Marc], Jean & Madeleine [Don]; 20 grandchildren: Michael, Kristina, Brianna [Rob] Brandon, Amanda, Chantal [Mike], Amanda, Keiren, Daniel, Andre, Christie {Brad], Cathy [Mike], Jasmine, Kendra, Scott, Brandi [Alex], Tom, Kyla, Cole; 16 great grandchildren: Austin, Myesha, Braedon, Daisy Lynn, Chase, Kemarr, Gracie, Riley, Hayleigh, Cayden, Braedon, Abbigayle, Lohgan, Teasha, Jeremiah & Keira. She is also survived by 9 brothers and sisters & numerous nieces & nephews.
Funeral Was held on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 10am at Mountainside Funeral Home, 1270 Ryder Street, Hope BC. Pastor Mel Simmons will be officiating. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Basson who cared & supported our mom through the years. We would also extend that to the night shift at the Hospital ER for their compassionate care to mom.
A very special thanks to all the ladies and staff at the Waverly Seniors Village AL & Intermediate care for the special love and care you took in looking after Patricia, Thank You!
In lieu of flowers, the family would request that a donation in Patricia’s name be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC or the BC Lung Association.
Mama you soared like an eagle when papa went away
You soared like an eagle when we begged you to stay
You chose this time to go away

Now mama & papa are looking down on us with a smile
“So our beautiful children” they would say with a sigh
“Look up all of you” We are angels in disguise
And we will watch over each and every one of you till we meet again.
