Legg, Maureen Amy (nee Boyce). Maureen was born in Nanaimo on September 27, 1933, passed away in Chilliwack on January 18, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Amy Boyce; and a brother, Emmott. Maureen will be remembered by her family, husband Alan; children, Kerry (Bob); Christine (John); Kevin (Lindsay); David (Pat); Grandson, Richard; close friends, Nancy and Dick. Maureen graduated from John Shaw High School in Nanaimo, Class of 1951. Attended Victoria Normal School, 1951-52. Began her teaching career as a Grade One teacher at Central Elementary School (Chilliwack), where she remained for the most part until early retirement June 1988. 1989 saw her return to her beloved Vancouver with husband Alan. 2004 saw them return to Chilliwack after a diagnosis of Dementia. Singing was a part of Maureen's life at the summer cottage, at Departure Bay, Nanaimo. She harmonized with mother Amy, who was herself an accomplished singer. At John Shaw School, Maureen was a proud member of Andrew Dunsmore's famous High School Choir. In retirement with Alan she was a member of "The Arrowsmith Singer's" and "The Parksville Community Choir" where her high soprano could soar with the very best, especially during performances of Handel's Messiah.

Maureen will be remembered for her love of family and friends. She loved Central School, which she referred to as her "Great Orange Pumpkin"! She never wanted to teach anywhere else. Most of all for laughter, and the broadest smile you could possibly imagine. A smile which she maintained to the very end. Thank-you's to the staff at Eden Care Center, for all their wonderfull care.
