Mathew Anthony Vallier

It's with profound sadness that we share the passing of Mathew (Mat) after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn of 42 years, his daughters: Tina (Luke) and Heather (Normen), grandchildren: Makayla (Matviy), Kayden, Faith, Daelynn, Kiara , Cohen, Chloe, and Loik, sisters: Joyce, Theresa, Christine (Guy), and Laura (Ralph), brothers: Pat (Joan), Mark (Sue), Danny and Chris, sisters-in-law: Marina and Kathy, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by both his parents (Ernest and Kathleen), his brothers (Nick and Tim) , his nephew (Gordon), and his brothers-in-law (Glen and Charlie).
Mathew retired as a Sergeant after a 23 year career in the Military from 1973 - 1996. He began his second career working with Rolls Royce Marine Division in Port Coquitlam, for the next 10 years. His next job opportunities then were Corrections Canada and RCMP in Chilliwack as a Storesman until he officially retired in 2016.
Mat was an avid sports fanatic, there wasn't a sport he didn't watch. He also enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, golf, and darts at various stages of his life. His favourite teams were the Montreal Canadians, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and San Francisco 49ers.
Mat was a people person, and he sure loved to dance... He enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow friends and spending time with his family.
There will be a celebration of his life at the #295 Legion in Sardis on Saturday, December 18, 2021 1-4pm.
A special thanks to Dr. Ross, Nurses and Dr's of 5 north at CGH, and the wonderful staff at Cascades Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mat's honour to Cascades Hospice or the Royal Canadian Legion #295 in Sardis would be greatly appreciated.
