April 13, 1923 - April 24, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our family matriarch.
Marjorie was born in Tonbridge Wells England and moved to Canada in 1945 as a war bride. She settled first in Thunder Bay, Ontario then to Winnipeg in 1965 and then on to Chilliwack in 1993.
She is survived by her four children; son John and his wife Danielle in Chilliwack, son Edward (Ted) and his wife Loretta in Prince Rupert. Daughter Alison and husband Richard Eardley in Stonewall Manitoba, and son Eric in Winnipeg.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law Shirley and husband Gary Dean of Thunder By and sister-in-law Nina Riel of Winnipeg. Marjorie is also survived by thirteen grandchildren all residing in Western Canada, even more great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.
Marjorie was predeceased by her husband of 28 years Raymond Riel, her companion of 30 years Ted Hughes, her son Frank, her sister Ann Mason and her brother Jack Hewitt in England.
Her home was always open to family, friends and their friends —always.
Marjorie made it to 98 years old and in her last 25 years, she had two quotes:
"Getting old is not for sissies"
and
"I may be old, but I am not stupid"
We would like to thank the staff at the Bradley Centre for all their help in her last 18 months during very difficult times and Doctor Bester who took special care of mother and went above and beyond to help in the last years.
