October 18, 1943 - June 3, 2024

Louise Mitchell, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Chilliwack, British Columbia on June 3, 2024 with her family by her side. Born on October 18, 1943, Louise grew up on the family farm surrounded by the beauty of nature which fueled her passion for gardening and the outdoors.

In her early years, Louise pursued a career as a hairdresser, where she shared her creativity and warmth with her clients, she also cut and styled the hair of family and friends throughout her life. She had a gift for making people feel beautiful both inside and out. Louise met her husband, Wallace in 1961 in Fort Saint John, BC and it was love at first sight! The two of them were married in 1963 and recently celebrated 61 years together. As a mom, Louise lovingly embraced raising her twin boys, Mike and Wally, who brought immeasurable joy and laughter to her life.

Louise maintained strong ties with family and friends, cherishing gatherings, yearly traditions, and shared memories. Whether it was a dinner at the kitchen table, an annual holiday celebration or a well-deserved vacation, she ensured that friends and family remained at the center of her world.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ellwood and Edie Toop, brother Vic Toop, sister Pat Gill, brothers-in-law Ken Pedde, Richard Gill, Frank Mitchell, Jim Mitchell, nephews Don, Bob and Zach Pedde and niece Kathy Pedde. She is survived by her husband Wallace Mitchell, her sons Mike Mitchell (Kathy) and Wally Mitchell (Dan), her sister Donna Pedde and sisters-in-Law Karen Toop and Cathy Mitchell along with countless nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.

Despite her petite stature, Louise was a strong and resilient woman. Her determination and love for life inspired everyone who knew her. She faced challenges head-on and taught her family the value of perseverance.

Louise was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time mowing the lawn, spending time in the rose garden and harvesting the vegetable garden. Her green thumb transformed her yard into a vibrant oasis of flowers, vegetables, and tranquility.

Louise's love for animals of all kinds mirrored her affinity for nature. She welcomed many furry friends including dogs, cats, and even the occasional mouse or guinea pig into her home, and who could forget her connection with Ladybugs and a spider or two from time to time.

As we honour Louise's memory, let's remember her as a woman who found solace in the rustle of leaves, the scent of blossoms, the touch of sunlight and the company of family and friends. May her spirit continue to thrive in the gardens she tended and the memories she sowed.

A Celebration of Life to honor Louise will be held on Sunday, June 23rd, at 2:00 PM, at the Chilliwack Curling Club located at 45550 Spadina Avenue, Chilliwack, British Columbia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to either the BC SPCA or the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
