It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lorraine Smith announces her passing. Lorraine passed away surrounded by her family at Chilliwack Hospice, at the age of 76, following a brief illness.
Lorraine was born and raised in Chilliwack, where she married Ray and had two children. She remained in Chilliwack her entire life.
While raising her family, Lorraine had a lengthy career with BC Social Services until she retired in 2003.
Retirement gave her more time to enjoy her family and friends. She was always eager to venture out with "the girls" and looked forward to morning coffee "get togethers" with the group.
One of Lorraine's favorite places to visit was Wendover, Nevada and she shared numerous adventures and many laughs with all the people that accompanied her there.
Left to treasure her memory and remember her always is her beloved family, husband of 57 years, Ray, their children, Ron (Karin), and Darla (Brett) and grandchildren, Chris (Desiree), Brennan (Carrie), Shaylenne, Brayden, Hayleigh (Ryan) and Landon.
She will also sadly be missed by her great granddaughters, Everly, Harley and Olivia, who were her pride and joy, her sister, Lila, brother, Ed (Rose) and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Lorraine was predeceased by her mother, Edna, her father, Charles and brother, Harvey.
Lorraine was well-loved by whoever came into her life, and she was known to refer to everyone as 'Hon." She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, devotion to her family, and extreme loyalty to her friends. Lorraine's home was always opened and you were welcomed with an endless supply of banana bread, blueberry muffins or her signature Saturday night, "Burgers and Fries."
She will be sorely missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
Memorial donations in memory of Lorraine may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society of BC.
Due to the Covid restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Forever In Our Hearts, until we meet again "Rainy."
